Job Description
The candidate must have between 3 to 5 years of IT experience and 1-2 years of mission critical application support experience.
Team Structure:
• Working within the Operations Cross Product IT team, the role reports to a System Owner within the Finesse BAU team.
Team Function and responsibilities:
• The support team are responsible for BAU support and development on the Finesse Electronic Confirmations platform.
• Delivery involves a swift response to support issues and efficient and effective solutions of these support issues (ultimately measured by feedback from the customer and other IT teams regarding the quality of the service provided)
• Working closely with Operations business users and other support team members to ensure that the systems are performing well and evolving to support the needs of the business.
Role specific responsibilities:
• The individual will be required to provide a first class support service to the business in terms of answering queries, resolving problems and assisting in the development and implementation of new releases. (60/40 Support Development)
• Identifying system issues, reporting/escalating/resolving these issues in a timely manner.
• Assist the application manager with planning by providing technical solutions and robust estimates for development tasks.
• Timely delivery of robust, quality, unit and system tested applications and components, and supporting deliverables (Unit tests, User Acceptance Testing, go live)
• Issue Management (including problem analysis and generation of solutions); Change Management; Test Management; Status Tracking & Reporting. Document all incidents and produce/contribute to the production of regular management reporting.
• Regular and ad-hoc reporting of problems/progress to System Owner, including escalation of issues and exceptions.
• Interaction with numerous business groups (Operations, Middle office, and also Front Office, Risk, Finance etc.) and other IT teams as appropriate.
• Weekend on-call support (occasional) and open for any relocation.
Desired Candidate Profile
Essential Experience: (Must have skills)
• Education – Clear and good track record throughout academics. Engineering / MCA from recognized and reputed institute.
• Strong IT support experience (preferably in the investment banking sector)
• A background in IT Application Development.
• Java experience with an Object Oriented/J2EE environment background (including Servlets, JSP, XML)
• Core Java, OO design techniques and thread concepts.
• Strong Relational database skills, preferably Sybase
• Investment Banking Back office knowledge
• Effective verbal and written communicator, able to adapt delivery style and language to suit the audience. Able to present complex issues and solutions to mixed audiences, where necessary resolving conflict and complexity by delivering practical solutions
